a note on siouxsie & the banshees
You would think the collaboration between the cure's bob smith and siouxsie in 1984's nocturne live record
and 1984's siouxsie album hyaena would be, well, incredible. however, they are dull insipid
releases, being in the marked transition from siouxsie's early punk era and the cure's near-gothic sound to the
poppy light dittys bob became fond of, perhaps to keep his relative sanity, and siouxsie's more echoey operatics,
neither being their best efforts. bob expended his best at this new style on the cure's japanese whispers,
while siouxsie never did capture more than a memorable song now and again after 1982's kiss in the dreamhouse, barely
a noteworthy record itself.
